International Ocean Exploration

Ocean exploration is gaining recognition as a separate discipline within ocean sciences. While the distinction between exploration and research is not always clean, most of  the deep ocean is unknown or poorly known. And there is a growing awareness amongst countries for the need for expeditions whose primary goal is exploration. This session will highlight some of the exciting expeditions now being conducted by different countries. The expectation is that future exploration will have more international collaborations to maximize the science and efficacy of exploring the earth's final frontier.
