An occasional form of nighttime entertainment at sea, perhaps during a transit, after the work of a particular leg is finished, is to spend time away from the ship's lights and look at the sea. Many of us have gone up to the bow (or descended into the bow dome) and, after allowing time for pupil adaptation, watched the light show.
